Overview:
Presenter: Jo Rockendorfer
Puberty transforms a young girl in ways that reach far beyond the physical. As Louann Brizendine writes in The Female Brain, “The structure of a female brain at puberty determines not only how they think but what they value and how they communicate.”
This workshop gives parents, carers and educators a grounded, practical understanding of what’s happening within a girl’s body, brain and emotional world as she navigates this pivotal stage — and the tools to support her with confidence.
Together we’ll explore:
- Puberty Signposts — the physical changes to expect
- Mapping of the Brain — how the adolescent female brain develops
- The Estrogen-Progesterone Wave — the chemicals that shape mood across the monthly cycle
- Social Connection and Hormones — what’s normal, and why
- Girl Psychology vs Woman Psychology — the shift in how she thinks and relates
You’ll also come away with a practical toolkit: establishing family values, building healthy habits and attitudes, developing listening skills, managing big emotions, and understanding the sexualisation of girls and what we can do about it.
Leave with the knowledge, tools and confidence to support the young girl in your life through one of her most formative transitions.
